On the downturn side, the San Antonio Express News carries an Associated Press (AP) article reporting that, nationally, home building fell 4% in December. Click to read the article. Although the the AP article doesn't specifically address San Antonio's new home market, San Antonio area buyers can expect to find a lower than usual inventory of new construction homes this spring.
Weakened new home competition will be a welcome incentive for San Antonio area homeowners contemplating selling their homes. Consequently, the shortage of new construction homes will likely be offset by an ample inventory of newly listed resale homes.
It's currently a buyers' market and, all things considered, the market will likely favor buyers at least into the summer.
